Yes, you have the flexibility to use your own cloud storage providers such as AWS S3, Backblaze B2, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Wasabi, or even self-hosted servers for storing customer data. This gives you full control over your storage infrastructure and costs.

The tiered pricing model is gaining a lot of popularity. By offering tiered ranges to your customers they can select one to meet their current and future growth needs, they will not need to think much about it later or monitor incremental changes in billing going up or down each month. This also offers you the most value, since customers historically utilize about 50% of the tier.
We recommend using the Per/GB model because it is scaleable, provides options, allows for growth, and most importantly it’s fair for you and the customer. Setting up ranges gives flexibility to your customer and peace of mind if they need to a several GB and not worry about rate changes in the billing.
We don’t recommend using a fixed fee pricing plan when offering your online backup service. Your customer’s data will be growing daily, files are being added and databases will be growing, it’s easy to lowball your initial estimates. You’ll also need to factor in things like file versioning, and data recovery retention periods, these features are highly efficient but do add some additional storage overhead, as such the fixed fee approach is not dynamic and will lose you money.
Yes, you can easily monitor the health of your deployed MSP backup software agents through the Backup Ops web console, where at-a-glance you will have a high-level view of how everything is looking, with the ability to interact, update, and push configuration changes on the fly. You can also set up scheduled email reports and alerting, which allows you to stay continually updated and notified on a set schedule. The Backup Ops web console is your centralized management tool for creating your branded and customized MSP backup software installers and managing them.
The MSP backup software from WholesaleBackup offers the ability to automate installations using your RMM, in addition to monitoring your endpoint deployments through your RMM, and lastly, you can also manage your deployment and make configuration changes through your RMM software. But it’s worth mentioning that the most effective way to monitor and manage your endpoints would be from the included web-based Backup Ops web console.
You can speed up the deployment and rollout of your endpoints by using any of the following features available to your MSP backup software. 1.) Silent installs: where the endpoint executable e.g YourMSPBackupSoftware.exe is able to run in the background without displaying any prompts or dialogs to your users. You would have a setup script that runs with it to handle the account and key generation. Once installed on the OS you can start managing the client from your Backup Ops web console remotely. 2.) Global user account and password: This option allows you to deploy every endpoint using the same account and key, this way each computer is the unique object, and you as the MSP administrator have the option to restore data from any of your clients since they are linked through the global account and key. This simplifies management and recovery especially when you have the endpoints locked down so users are not interacting with them, which WholesalBackup also offers. 3.) Streamline and automate backup software deployments with your favorite RMM console.
There are a few ways you can go about self-hosting the MSP backup solution. If you have a Windows Server you can install the WholesaleBackup Server software configured to your own domain and port. Your deployed MSP backup software clients will be pointed to those settings and start sending incremental, encrypted, data to the server. The data can be recovered from the client or the server by you. The other option is to use your own cloud storage from AWS, GCP, or Wasabi. All you do is generate an API key that is securely programmed into your MSP backup solutions’ endpoints so they can send your customer’s encrypted backup date to your cloud storage. The key thing to point out is that in each instance the customer data is under your control, and you are paying zero middleman storage fees to the backup software provider (WholesaleBackup).
Yes, the MSP backup software allows for bare-metal restore, bare-metal recovery, or bare-metal backup, all referred to as BMR. To perform a bare-metal restore, the bare-metal hardware must be set up in an identical configuration to the hardware of the original customer’s machine. The software will restore the machine to a previously good state using a backed-up image or system state backup through the Windows Recovery Environment.
